2006 16th round pick Tobi Stoner was promoted to New York on Monday night. Stoner, who went a collective 9-9 with a 3.55 ERA in 144 2/3 innings this season, made 16 starts with Triple-A Buffalo where he went 7-7 with a 3.96 ERA. Stoner struck out 92 batters this season with a .224 opponents' batting average.
It is expected that Stoner will see innings and likely a start in the near future.
Stoner was ranked the #9 prospect in the organization by Inside Pitch Magazine last fall.
He features a 89-92 MPH fastball, a two-seam fastball 88-90 MPH, a mid-70s slider and curveball and a high-70s changeup.
Stoner won his last four decisions with Buffalo.
