Nationals @ Brewers 6/12/15

The Nationals are sending Jordan Zimmermann to the Mound today to face Mike Fiers are Miller Park.

The Nationals lost 6-5 yesterday when Tanner Roark allowed 5 runs over 6.2 frames of work. Though Matt Garza wasn't a whole lot better for the Brewers, Milwaukee was able to overcome 3 errors and get a run off of Aaron Barrett to pick up the win. The Brewer's bullpen was able to shut the door with shut down innings from Blazek, Smith, and Rodriguez to seal the later innings of the game. Tonight, Jordan Zimmermann will take the Jill against Mike Fiers in an attempt to get the Nationals back in the win column yet again and begin a much needed win streak.

Zimmermann has been pretty good take one not so great start against the Cubs the last time he took the hill. In that last start, he faced the Cubs at Nationals park and he only lasted 5 frames while allowing 4 runs. That was only the 2nd time this season that Zimmermann has gone less than 6 innings this season and that is the first time since his 2nd start of the year. Overall, Jordan Zimmermann has done very well against the Brewers in his career. Keep an eye out for Aramis Ramirez, though as he has a tendency to get to the Nationals righty.

Fiers has had a decent career so far with the Brewers. He came up to the big club in 2011 and he has stuck around ever since. He became a full time starter in 2014 and he is hanging onto that role this season. He's accumulated a career 3.65 ERA and a 3.48 FIP to go with a 9.5 K/9. He will likely pick up a lot of K's and is the kind of guy that could give the Nationals fits. He's hardly faced the Nationals, but those plate appearances he's had have been pretty dominant.
