Matt Harvey took the mound yesterday at Nationals Park and though he went 7 innings, he allowed 5 runs, 4 of which were earned. The 5 runs were more than enough to for the Nationals to pick up the win with Gio Gonzalez going 6 strong innings. Today, rookie Joe Ross will take the hill for the Nationals and Jacob deGrom will take the hill for the visiting Mets.
Jacob DeGrom is currently in his second full season as a starting pitcher for the Mets and he hasn't been a disappointment for them either. He's got a 2.14 ERA this season and a rock solid 8.9 K/9. Given his minuscule 1.7 BB/9 he should prove to be a tough opponent to overcome for the Nationals tonight. DeGrom's had very few plate appearances against the Nationals, but what we've seen in a small sample size has favored the Nationals. Let's hope that continues tonight.
DeGrom vs. Current Nationals
Joe Ross is a rookie pitcher for the Nationals having made his MLB debut this season. He has returned to the Nationals after being called up today to make the start against the Mets after another stint in the Minors. He is a promising young pitcher and though he doesn't have a lot of experience under his belt, the early sampling is positive. The Mets will be seeing Ross for the first time this season and of Ross's career. So everything will be new for tonight, instead of his numbers against, check out his stats from this season.
