Optioned to Triple-A Norfolk: 3B Josh Bell
Released: P Adrian Rosario
Re-acquired: RHP Pat Egan
Analysis: Bell had an opportunity this spring to showcase his talents but instead it was Jake Fox who did the head turning. It appears Fox will be Mark Reynolds backup and Bell will get everday playing time in Norfolk. Rosario was a Rule-5 draft pick. This spring he was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA. He only pitched in two games this spring. The acquisition of Rosario turned some heads in the first place. He spent last season between rookie-level and Class A Wisconsin. In Class A Wisconsin, Rosario went 4-0 with a 4.50 ERA. The Orioles were not going to keep him on their active Major League roster so they let him go, he cleared waivers and will now be sent back to the Brewers. The Brewers selected Egan as a Rule 5 draft pick. This spring Egan appeared in six games and tossed 6.1 scoreless innings and recorded two saves. He was assigned to Norfolk.
Analysis: Nothing too surprising here. Despite a strong spring by Angle in which he hit .320 but only had one extra-base hit, Angle is stuck in a tough spot in an already crowded outfield. Last year for Norfolk, Angle hit .260 with one homerun and 24 RBIs in 87 games. Snyder also was just odd man out behind Lee, Scott, Reynolds and Fox. Last year in 96 games at Norfolk Snyder hit .257 with nine homers and 43 RBIs.
