Keys' Bundy, Townsend Earn May Honors

Keys' Bobby Bundy and Tyler Townsend earn player of the month honors in May.

Frederick Keys right-handed pitcher Bobby Bundy and first baseman Tyler Townsend have earned pitcher and player of the month awards for the month of May for the minor leagues.

Bundy enjoyed a successful month of May as he compiled a 3-1 record with a 2.93 ERA in five starts.

The eighth round selection out of Owasso, Oklahoma in 2008 is in his first season with Frederick after spending the 2010 season with Single-A Delmarva. Bundy currently has a record of 5-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 10 starts.

Townsend continued to produce after a great April when he led the team in average, home runs and RBI.

The third round pick in 2009 out of Florida International University hit .281 with five home runs and 14 RBI in May. Townsend is among the leaders in the Carolina League in batting average (.305) and is currently fourth in the Orioles system. The Orioles first base prospect is hitting .400 in his last 10 games.

Both players are considered all-star candidates in the Carolina League.
