Kyle Raubinger: Its a huge honor. I feel blessed with the opportunity that I have been given. It is a relief to get that process over with and its a huge honor. I was sitting in my living room with all of my family. I saw my name online come up as drafted and then my area scout (Scott Walker) called me.
ITO: Talk about your game a little bit. What type of player are you and how do you see yourself fitting in with the Orioles?
Raubinger: am a third baseman but they drafted me as a first baseman. I am a left handed hitter and right handed thrower. I am more of a gap hitter. I am sure I will go in and they will try getting me to hit more homeruns.
ITO: What is your take on the Orioles drafting you as a first baseman instead of your natural position of third baseman?
Raubinger: Its no big deal. I am really excited. I dont care where I play. I just want to play
ITO: What are your strengths and your weaknesses?
Raubinger: My bat, my arm and my hands are my strengths. Speed is my weekness, I am not very fast. This season I hit .419 with seven homers, 28 RBIs, .534 OBP, and an .814 SLG.
ITO: Who would you compare your game to at the Major League level so the Orioles' fans have an idea of what your game is like?
ITO: Were you expecting to be drafted by the Orioles or were you surprised they selected you?
Raubinger: Really neither. You really have no idea what is going to happen. You kind of go into it blind, unless they call you before or something. I had been talking to them before, so it wasnt a surprise.
ITO: What would you say is your best moment in baseball and why?
Raubinger: Probably being drafted. But I also really enjoyed playing in the area code games and tournaments all over the place.
ITO: Who was your favorite team and player growing up?
Raubinger: My favorite player is Josh Hamilton and my favorite team are the GIants
ITO: What are your immediate plans now that you have been drafted by the Orioles? Is it your intention to sign now and start your professional career immediately?
Raubinger: Right now I just have to wait. They have not offered me yet, so I just have to wait. When I get the offer, I am going to weigh it. I would prefer to sign and go play.
