O's Showalter Present in Drake's Dominance

Orioles manager Buck Showalter was present for Oliver Drake's complete game and the Keys shutout win

Oliver Drake

On his complete game

"I was real happy because I got ahead of a lot of hitters and the defense made all the plays behind me. It made up of a quick game."

On Showalter in Sky Box

[Laughing] "I had no idea he was there."

On the 15 Groundball outs

"That was one of the things I wanted to change from last year is I wanted to start throwing more 2-seam fast balls and sinkers. The pitches get me through a lot of jams with the ground balls that get me double plays."

Orlando Gomez

On Drake's performance

"He pitched well. At the beginning his off-speed pitch was working well. He didn't have the command early with fastball but as the game went on it was much better. He threw a lot of ground balls and was aggressive in the strike zone.

On if there was any doubt he would finish the game

"I left it up to him it was his game win or lose it was his game."

On Drake's performance in front of Showalter and Brady Anderson

"He stepped up. With the right people here he stepped up and he did it."

On Machado and Schoop's performance defensively

"A lot of the young guys stepped up in front of him. Machado made a couple defensive plays, Schoop made some nice plays and he was very happy."
