Jacob Pettit Game Report 8/16/11

Season Stats: 10-4, 3.53 ERA in 22 starts coming into Tuesday's start with Delmarva and Frederick.

Previous 10 days (1 start): 1-0, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Tuesday August 16th Result: ND, 6+ IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 77 Pitches

The Tuesday line on Pettit doesn't do justice on how well he pitched for the majority of the game. He earned a no decision in a Keys 4-3 walk-off win. The 42nd round pick in the 2010 draft was on point early hitting the corners and striking out four in the first two innings.

The pitch count was on his side as he was mostly ahead in the count and was able to get hitters to chase some pitches. He also gave up some line drives that were hit right at the defense. A positive note is that he only walked one batter in the game.

The seventh inning brought trouble for Pettit as he gave up two consecutive doubles to lead off the inning and then was pulled. The three earned runs were the most he has given up as a member of the Frederick Keys.

Game Quotes from Jacob Pettit

On his performance early on in the game

"I felt pretty good. I located the fastball well and located the breaking stuff well to go along with the fastball."

On the seventh inning

"I left two pitches in and it caught more of the plate than I wanted to and it cost me the ability to stay in the game and get the win."

On his success in Frederick

"A lot of it has to do with catching. The fastball has a lot to do with it though I have had much more success with it then in Delmarva."
