Orioles Option Drake

The Orioles have trimmed their spring training roster down to 47.

The Orioles have optioned RHP Oliver Drake to Double-A Bowie. Drake saw time with three different Oriole Affiliates last year. He started the season off in Single-A Frederick, then moved up to Double-A Bowie, and he also pitched two innings with Triple-A Norfolk.

Overall in 2011 Drake was 11-8 with a 3.32 ERA. He appeared in 27 games with 25 starts. He recorded four complete games and one shutout. He pitched 162.2 innings striking out 129 and walking 43.

This spring, Drake pitched in four games, going 0-1 over four innings.

This is not a surprise move by the Orioles and Drake should be a key cog in the Baysox rotation. How long he stays in Bowie before going to Norfolk or Baltimore is the question.
