Orioles Minor League Notes- 3/17

The Orioles Double-A team dropped a 3-2 contest to Tampa.

o In a Class AA baseball game in Sarasota, the Rays beat the Orioles on Saturday 3-2.

o Blake Davis had a single in the 4th and an RBI triple in the 6th to right field. He was also caught in a rundown to end the 4th inning.

o Ryan Adams had a walk in the 1st and base hit to right on a 3-0 pitch. He was driven in by Blake Davis.

o Widlanski had a double to right and was driven in by Barfield to score a run in the 5th.

o The Orioles had a chance to take the lead in the 8th. Glynn Davis and Aaron Baker each hit line drives to centerfield, and after a sacrifice bunt by Lee Cruz, were both in scoring position. However, Justin Dalles and Blake Davis hit back to back fly outs to end the inning.

o Lee Cruz and Brandon Waring each had a walk.

o The Orioles still had life until Josh Bell was caught stealing second to end the game.

o The Orioles had 2 errors and a passed ball and were caught stealing twice.

o Starting pitcher Zach Clark gave up a hit in the second but got the next batter to hit into a double play to end the inning. He pitched 2 innings.

o RHP Patrick Eagan gave up a run, 3 hits and walked a batter in 2 innings. The run was scored with 2 outs on a line drive to right on a 2-0 pitch.

o LHP Casey Fossum pitched 2 innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk. He also had a strikeout. Both runs were scored off a ground ball single to left on a 2-0 pitch in the 6th inning.

o LHP Yoshihrio Doi pitched the 7th inning and gave up a single to right but made the next batter hit into a double play to end the inning.

o RHP Francis Beltran pitched the 8th inning and gave up a hit but recorded a strikeout.

o RHP Winston Abreu retired the side in order in the 9th inning with 2 strikeouts.

o Orioles manager Gary Kendall was not pleased with his teams hitting and base running. He said, “We didn't play very well today. We made a lot of mistakes on the bases, and only 6 hits. We would like to see a little bit more hitting.”

o Kendall was pleased with his pitching today saying, “Our pitching was alright. We pitched enough to win.”
