Berken,Jason (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


RHP Jason Berken was recalled from Triple A Norfolk on Monday and was greeted with six hits and seven runs -- two earned -- in the ninth inning. He allowed two homers in his inning of work, leaving with an 18.00 ERA. He was promoted for three days when RHP Jim Johnson was in the hospital with food poisoning, but did not appear in a game with the Orioles. He's been working as a starter with the Tides.

Tejada,Miguel (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


INF Miguel Tejada passed his physical Monday and is expected to sign a minor league contract Tuesday. He'll be evaluated at extended spring training in Sarasota, Fla. for 10 days before the Orioles decide how to move forward.

Paulino,Ronny (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


C Ronny Paulino was optioned to Triple A Norfolk on Monday. He was 9-for-30 with three RBIs in nine games as C Matt Wieters' backup. The Orioles had three catchers on the roster during the weekend after C Luis Exposito was promoted.

Pomeranz,Stuart (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


RHP Stu Pomeranz made his major league debut with three shutout innings Monday after he was recalled from Triple A Norfolk. He scattered three hits and a walk while striking out two on 48 pitches. Pomeranz, 27, appeared in eight games between Double A Bowie and Norfolk this season. He was a second-round pick by St. Louis in 2003. He allowed just two earned runs and saved two games while striking out 32 and walking just two in the minors this season.

Hunter,Tommy (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


RHP Tommy Hunter was optioned to Triple A Norfolk on Monday to make room for extra relievers following Sunday's 17-inning affair in Boston. Hunter allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk in 4.1 innings Sunday, allowing a game-tying grand slam in his shortest outing of the year. He'll have to remain with Norfolk for 10 days unless there is an injury on the big league roster.

Wada,Tsuyoshi (Baltimore Orioles) (5/7/2012)


LHP Tsuyoshi Wada was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday. Wada, ruled out for the season with an torn ligament in his pitching elbow, was moved to make room for Pomeranz on the 40-man roster. He has yet to appear in an organized game with the Orioles after signing a free agent contract in the offseason.
