Deduno was bad, the Padres hitting with RISP was worse. Pads go an impressive 2-16 with RISP and fall 9-8
Anthony Rizzo is back and with a vengeance. The 1B went 3-4, 2B, HR (18) 4 RBI for the T-Pads. It was his 2nd HR in as many days. I don't know if a week is enough to get Rizzo's swing back on track but it sure looks like it. Aaron Poreda tossed 2 perfect innings striking out 2. It was his 1st appearance in nearly a week, and the 1st time since July 7th he didn't walk a batter. The conundrum that is Aaron Poreda continues as his season stats are extremely impressive with out the walk totals. In 51.2 IP Poreda has struck out 56 while only allowing 44 hits and 2 HR. Now if only he didn't have 48 BB…
AA San Antonio
Kelly allows the 1st 7 hitters to reach base in the 1st and the Missions can only get 3 hits of their own getting blown out 11-1
Casey Kelly had been one of the best pitchers in July going 4-0 with an ERA just north of 2. Well that wasn't the case tonight. The right hander could not record an out in the 1st until the #8 hitter lined into an unassisted double play. Kelly would then settle down but the damage was done. He went 5 innings allowing 10 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. It was only the 4th loss of the year for Kelly and his first since June 26th.

Short Season Eugene
Now that they have locked up a playoff spot the Ems finally scored more than 1 run in a game. Ems won despite 4 errors 6-2
With 1 swing of the bat Jose Dore turned a 1-0 Ems lead into a much more comfortable 4-0 game. It was Dore's 3rd HR of the year in 64 AB. Unfortunately the young OF continues to strike out at an alarming rate. He struck out 2x tonight and has struck out at least once in 15 of the last 16 games.
Mark Pope picked up his 1st professional victory tonight. He pitched 3 scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits, 0 walks, and 4 K. Pope had worked 3 innings in each of his past 2 appearances for the Ems each time allowing a run on 1 hit.
