U – G – L – Y the T-Pads aint got no alibi. Poetic I know but the T-Pads faced a drubbing similar to the ones the SD Pads gave to the Pirates. T-Pads fall 2-10.
Its hard to talk about any player after a dreadful game that was game over after it was 8-0 after 3. Hefner went 6 IP, 11 H, 9 ER, 4 BB, 5 K. Poreda came in and it took his 8 pitches before he threw a strike. His line 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K. UGH. Kielty and Patterson both scored a run and had a RS.
AA San Antonio
In what is a far cry from the incredibly dangerous Missions lineup from a month ago the Missions manage to score late and come out on top with a 3-1 win
Just a short time ago the Missions had by far the most dangerous and lethal lineup in the TL. Tonights lineup was without Belnome (DL), Weems (DL), C. Decker (DL), Tekotte (Called up), Gyorko (day off?), Hagerty (day off?) and Jaff Decker (came out early Sat and missed last 2 games). That is 7 starters not in the lineup! Solis hit a solo HR in the 9th (#4) to give the Missions a 3-1 win.
After Qualls and Bell managed to blow a 4 run lead the Padres might be regretting (a bit) the trade of Adams. Well at least Robert Erlin is putting those doubts to rest. In his 2nd start with the Missions Erlin was once again stellar. Going 6 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K. In 2 games Erlin has now gone 12 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 15 K.
High A Lake Elsinore
Pen cant hold the lead as the Storm fall 4-7
Nick Schmidt was recently named the Cal League Pitcher of the week. Unfortunately he followed up his award with a rather unimpressive performance. He lasted 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K. Schmidt's biggest enemy was himself as he was going into deep counts with nearly every hitter. Despite the so-so outing he still has a rather impressive Cal League ERA of 2.52.
Did anyone notice that the UT talked about the Storm's up the middle duo on Sunday? As another testament that the UT and Bill Center know less about the Padre prospects than pretty much everyone who would read this… "The second-short combination of 2B Jonathan Valdez (.300, 11 homers, 69 RBI) and SS Jeudy Valdez (.283-12-75) have combined for 23 homers, 144 RBI, 56 steals and 135 runs scored." BRILLIANT! Anyway if they were the same player they would have hit for the cycle tonight. The real Valdez with a 2B, 3B (2 RS), while GALVEZ added a HR (12), single, BB.
Low A Fort Wayne
Another solid start from Hardy but the offense doesn't show up to help and the bullpen blows the game open 2-7 loss
Slightly optimistic I know, but Spangenberg has now had 2 hits in each of his last 3 games. He went 2-3, 2B, 3B, RS, RBI, BB, and a SB. In doing so he has managed to raise his OPS over .100 points "up to" .499. In 6 games in August, Spangenberg is hitting .304/.360/.435.
Short Season Eugene
5 hits, 3 errors, 0-4, with RISP and 8 LOB. So ya Ems fall 5-0
Donovan Tate has missed the last few games with a wrist injury. He had a soft cast on the wrist on Saturday, and had a hard brace on it yesterday. There is no word when he hurt his wrist (on the field or off), but he was back in the lineup tonight as the DH. In honor of being back he managed to strike out widely in his 1st AB. He ended up going 0-3, BB, K, GIDP.
Juan Barbato has a lot of talent but the control is not there yet. Barbato managed to only last 3.2 IP giving up 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 0 K. He has now walked 25 batters in 46 innings. It was the 3rd time in 11 starts that Barbato has walked at least 4 hitters in a start.
Rookie League Padres
Duanel Jones sends the fan(s?) home happy. 4-3 win on his walkoff HR.
