Padres Farm Report August 10th

Jaff returns to the Missions as they route Shelby Miller. All other teams (except AZL) were not so lucky, but just another day DOTF

AAA Tucson

Tucson has not been very kind to Brad Brach. The ace Padre closer ruins a great start by Perdomo as the T-Pads give up 2 in the 9th to fall 2-1

Deduno 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K Patterson 1-4, 2B, RS Rizzo 2-4, RBI Eric Patterson scored the lone run for the T-Pads. On the day he went 1-4, 2B, RS. Patterson currently has a 4 game hitting streak where he has gone an outstanding 10-17, 2 2B, 2 3B, HR. Over the past week that number remains white hot going 13-25. In August as a whole he is hitting .417/.432/.750.

AA San Antonio

Out of all the big names in the AA Missions rotation, Pedro Hernandez is the least hyped. As luck would have it he would draw the start tonight against Cardinals #1 prospect Shelby Miller. And yet which pitcher do you think struck out 8 in 5 great innings and which pitcher only lasted 0.2 innings? That's right, the Missions blast the Cardinals 11-4

Jaff Decker hasn't been seen since he left the game early on Saturday. Well he came back with his walking shoes on…quite literally. Decker drew a walk in his 1st 4 at bats. On the day he went 1-2, 2 RS, 4 BB, 2 RBI, K. As luck or just oddity would have it this isn't even Jaff's 1st 4 walk game of the year. This is his 3rd 4 walk game of the year and in each of the previous 2 occasions he went 1-2 with a single in those games. Despite hitting .230, Jaff still has a .378 OBP and leads the league in walks (92) and K (121).

High A Lake Elsinore

No game for the Storm

Low A Fort Wayne

Cates pitched great through 6 but received no run support. In the 7th Cates lost the support of both the defense and the bullpen, as Bowling Green scored 6 times and went on to win 7-1

Cates pitched into the 7th inning for only the 2nd time all year. In both instances he only got 1 out in the 7th. This time that "2nd out" should have occurred on a fairly routine flyball to left that clanked off Domoromo's glove. After a walk Cates was gone. Pen comes in and immediately gives up a 2 RBI 3B followed by 2 BB and a grand slam. DOH. Cates line for the day was 6.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 8 K.

Short Season Eugene

Anytime you go 1-14 with RISP it isn't a good sign that there is a W next to your name. Tonight was no different as the Ems fall 2-4

The sad thing was that the 1 hit with RISP didn't even result in a run. The Ems collected 8 hits, 4 walks, 3 SB, and an error, and yet couldn't get the big hit. Tate went 1-4, 2B, RBI (groundout), SB (14). Whitmore went 2-2, 2B, RS, 2 BB, SB (3). Patterson collected a couple of hits as well as his 24th SB.

Rookie League Padres

Uber wasn't "uber" but Martinez sure was as he went 4-5, 2 RS, 2 RBI to lead the AZL Pads by the Mariners 8-3
