Padres' Farm Report - August 27

AAA Tucson T-Padres 4 - Reno Aces 3 In a rare pitcher's duel in Tucson 1b Anthony Rizzo nearly was the difference with a two run home run in the sixth with one on going into the ninth before the Aces rallied to tie the game at two all.

The game went into the fifteenth inning, with the T-Padres falling behind before coming back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to win the game on Eric Patterson's single to center.

Rizzo Watch: 1b Anthony Rizzo hit his twenty-fifth home run with one on for his 99th and 100th RBIs of the year. This month has been Rizzo's slowest in AAA hitting .269/.336/.443.

AA San Antonio

Missions 6 - Corpus Christi Hooks 0

In Corpus Christi 1b Cody Decker, the recipient of the MadFriars' "Free Cody Decker" from the AZL campaign delivered his first home run since May 1, a three-run blast in the fourth inning. C. Decker was 2-4 on the day.

Recent signee SS Amadeo Zazueta was 2-4 with a triple and home run.

The organization is starting to limit innings as the end of the season draws near but star right-hander Casey Kelly went three innings and allowed only a single hit before being replaced by RHP Jorge Reyes who went two and got his ninth win of the season.

High-A Lake Elsinore

Storm 1- 0 Lancaster Jethawks

Andrew Werner, Hayden Beard, Dustin Pease, Jeremy McBryde and Jason Ray combined for a rare pitcher's duel in the California League.

Offensively SS Jeudy Valdez was 2-4 and RF Chris Tremblay were 2-4 as the Storm plated a run in the bottom of the first inning - and that was it for the scoring.

Low-A Fort Wayne

TinCaps 6 -Lansing Lugnuts 1

In the eighth inning the TinCaps sent nine batters to the plate to break up a pitchers duel with five runs on four hits and two errors by Lansing at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne.

A big night by right-fielder Mike Gallic, an eighteenth round pick out of Marist College in this year's draft, who went three for four. Although the TinCaps put up six runs they had no extra-base hits and only Gallic had more than one hit.

Lefty Mark Hardy evened his record at 10-10 and pitched well going six strong innings and allowing no earned runs.

Short-Season Eugene

Emeralds 5 - 1 Spokane Indians

Baseball Prospectus' Kevin Goldstein's favorite Padres' 2011 draft pick, former 2b Auburn's Casey McElroy continues to produce since signing late with a 2-4 evening, double and RBI. Coming into tonight's game he was hitting .340/.439/.574.

CF Alberth Martinez, who was recently promoted to Eugene after hitting a cool .354/.394/.593, was 2-3.

Short-Season AZL

AZL Angels 7- AZL Padres 4

The AZL Angels came from behind posting one in the seventh and three in the eighth to send the AZL Padres to their thirty-first loss of the year. One of the brighter stories of the year for San Diego has been the rise of RF Yoan Alcantara, who was hitting .351/.368/.594 coming into the game.

Martiniez had the night off but Alcantara was 1-4 with triple In today's game.

Austin Hedges, the de-facto number one selection in this year's draft, was 1-5 as a DH.
