Tucson Padres 5 – Sacramento River Cats 3

Key Stats: Bear Bay 6 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K; Erik Hamren 1 IP, 3 K, S (3); Jeremy Hermida 2-4, HR (1), 2 RBI

The Tucson Padres scored four late runs in their 5-3 win in Sacramento Sunday. The Padres trailed by two in the seventh when Jeremy Hermida hit his first Tucson home run, a solo shot, and Robert Kral hit a two-out RBI single to tie the game. Jesus Merchan's bases loaded walk in the eighth broke the tie and put the T-Pads ahead to stay.

Kral went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first Triple-A game. Hermida continues his hot hitting, collecting two RBIs Sunday after a four RBI game on Saturday. The Padres have won three in a row against first place Sacramento and have taken five of the seven games at Raley Field in 2012.

Tucson starter Bear Bay did not factor in the decision but pitched solidly, allowing three runs in six innings of work. Erik Hamren struck out three in the ninth inning for his sixth save of the season. It was the second time in the last three games the Padres didn't have a baserunner until the fifth inning and still won the game.

Midland Rockhounds 2 – San Antonio Missions 0

Key Stats: Eddie Kunz 3.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K; Nate Freiman 2-4

Missions manage only four hits as they get shut out 2-0 on Sunday. Missions managed only four baserunners on the day and went 0-4 with RISP in the loss.

Modesto Nuts 7 – Lake Elsinore Storm 6 (12 innings)

Key Stats: Matt Branham 4 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4K; Kevin Quackenbush 2 IP, 3K ; Tommy Medica 1-2, RS, RBI, 3 BB; Connor Powers pinch hit GRAND SLAM (10)

Down 3-2 going into the 8th the Storm turned it over to Ryan Quigley who proceeded to give up three runs to make the game seemingly unreachable. That changed in the bottom of the inning when a walk, single, and a hit batter would load the bases for the Storm with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Rodriguez struck out and started to send the fans begrudgingly heading to the exits. Until PH Connor Powers blasted a pinch-hit grand slam deep to left-field.

The score would remain tied until the twelfth when Chris Franklin allowed a two-out RBI triple to give the Nuts the lead and the win.

DAVENPORT, Iowa– Matt Wisler's six shutout innings combined with a relentless offensive attack Sunday evening led the Fort Wayne TinCaps to an 8-3 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits. The TinCaps extended their winning streak to six games, and will play for a second consecutive series sweep on Monday night.

The TinCaps scored twice in the second inning, building an early lead against Quad Cities (15-14, 50-48) starter Willy Paulino (2-8). Travis Whitmore's RBI double made it 1-0, and Tyler Stubblefield's RBI single gave Fort Wayne a 2-0 advantage.

Wisler (4-4) did not need much assistance, giving up just three hits over his outing. The 19-year-old righthander struck out four of the first six batters he faced, and finished the evening with six strikeouts and one walk. Fort Wayne (18-11, 49-50) padded the lead in a nine-batter fifth inning in which Kyle Gaedele contributed a two-run triple and Travis Jankowski an RBI single. Jankowski later scored on a wild pitch.

Quad Cities was held scoreless until the eighth inning, when the River Bandits put three runs on the board. Fort Wayne reliever Robert Eisenbach loaded the bases, and James Needy came on with just one out in the inning. Needy allowed all three of the inherited runs to score, making it 8-3 in favor of the TinCaps.

In the ninth, Matt Colantonio scored on a wild pitch and Jace Peterson singled in another run, setting the score at 8-3. Over the TinCaps' six-game winning streak, they've outscored the opposition 43-18. The Sunday win secured an eighth series victory of the ten series Fort Wayne has played in the second half.

The TinCaps play for a seventh straight win, and a 6-0 road trip, Monday night at 8:00. The scheduled starters are Cody Hebner for Fort Wayne and Tyrell Jenkins for Quad Cities.
