Prospect Watch: Padres go 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and can only muster five hits in a shutout loss. Stauffer looked more like the San Diego Padres' opening day starter, throwing his first quality start of the year. In addition to the five strikeouts, Stauffer induced eight ground balls compared to only one fly out.

Prospect Watch: Everett Williams continued his hot start. The left fielder is now hitting .400/.500/.514 in 35 at-bats, with more walks (7) than strikeouts (6). Williams also threw out his first runner of the year, nailing a runner at the plate to end the second… De Paula was fortunate to only give up two earned runs. He was constantly behind hitters early on, leading to seven hits in the first two innings. If it wasn't for the outfield assist by Williams, De Paula might not have made it out of the second.
Prospect Watch: Headley made what he hopes is his final rehab appearance in Lake Elsinore going 1-for-3 with a stolen base. He looked good at third, and had no problems… Cory Spangenberg played in his first game in four days going 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored, but did strike out twice. … While quite a few players have struggled out of the gate (Peterson, Hedges, Jones), Lee Orr has been arguably the best and most consistent hitter on the team. With the 4-for-5 outing today, Orr is now hitting .417, and has hit safely in eight in a row and all but one of 10 games this year.
