MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: May 20

One win, two blown saves and an eleven run inning doomed the farm to a 1-3 mark.

Tucson Padres 8 – Omaha Storm Chasers 11

Key Statistics C Yasmani Grandal 1-4, 2B, RBI, BB, K; RHP Brad Boxberger 2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 1 K (L, 0-2); 2B Dean Anna 3-5, 2 2B, RS, 2 RBI.

Prospect Watch: Yasmani Grandal continued his "rehab" assignment appearing in his second game with Tucson. The catcher looked comfortable both behind the plate and at bat. While he only went 1-4, he had five very good at bats, and already looks to be in mid-season mode. It will be interesting to see what the Padres due in a week's time… 2B Dean Anna just continues to hit. The middle infielder has now hit in four straight nine of ten, and has now raised his on-base percentage back over .400. The left-handed swinging Anna is teeing off of against right-handed pitching with a line of .349/.417/.566. Unfortunately, against lefties that number drops to .190/.261/.238.

San Antonio Missions 3 – Frisco RoughRiders 4

Key Statistics RHP Matt Andriese 5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K; CF Reymond Fuentes 1-4, RS, RBI, BB SB (18); 3B Chris Burke 1-3, 2B, RS.

Prospect Watch: After being shelled in his previous start, RHP Matt Andriese was back to his normal ways allowing only one run in five innings. The highlight of the night for Andriese had to be in the fifth, after allowing his first run to score, Andriese tied up rehabbing vet A.J. Pierzynski getting him to hit a tapper back to the mound to end the inning... RHP Matt Stites was tagged with the loss despite not giving up a hit. A one out walk was followed by a blown double-play leading to runners on second and third with one out. A ground out later would give the RoughRiders the lead and the eventual win.

Stockton Ports 16 – Lake Elsinore Storm 4

Key Statistics SS Jace Peterson 2-5, 3B,RS; LFKyle Gaedele 2-4, 2B, RS.

Prospect Watch: An eleven run bottom of the fifth, including a three run home run and a grand slam…. By the same person(!) was the difference in a lopsided blow out… Not much to speak about from a prospect standpoint. Jace Peterson had a multi-hit game but also struck out twice. With the loss the Storm dropped to 13-30.

Lake County Captains 4 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 7

Key Statistics RHP Joe Ross 4 IP,7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K; C Rodney Daal 4-5, 2B, HR (4), 2 RS, 3 RBI, SB (3); LF Alberth Martinez 2-5, 2B, 3B, 2 RS, RBI.

Prospect Watch: It was the Rodney Daal show again for Fort Wayne. After making headlines on Mother's Day when he went 4-4 with two home runs, Daal once again had a four hit performance with multiple extra-base hits. After hitting only two home runs in his first 220 minor league at bats the 19 year old now has three homers in his last 20.
