MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 20

AZL Padres started their season with a win thanks to the season debut of Juan Oramas. Adys Portillo also makes his second start for the TinCaps

Las Vegas 51s 7 – Tucson Padres 5

Key Statistics RHP Kevin Quackenbush 0.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 BB; SS Dean Anna 2-4, 3B, RS, RBI; 3B Gregario Petit 3-5, 2B, RS

Prospect Watch: After earning a win in his first AAA appearance, Kevin Quackenbush was not as well received tonight. He faced four batters allowing all to reach base, and had only 11-10 S/B ratio… On the other end of the spectrum Brad Boxberger had just as bad of a S/B ratio (18/16), however he allowed no hits over four innings while striking out four and walking one… Ben Francisco had his first hit with the T-Pads, an RBI double in the 4th.

San Antonio Missions 2 – Corpus Christi Hooks 4

Key Statistics RHP Matt Wisler 5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K; CF Rico Noel 2-5, RS; RF Yeison Asencio 3-4, RBI

Prospect Watch: It is hard to win a game when you only go 1-12 with RISP. Remember whe Everett Williams became a prospect again after hitting .307 in April? Well after a .594 OPS in May he fell back to obscurity. Tonight though, he added two hits and is now hitting .295 in June. His overall numbers are still a depressing .266/.329/.341 considering he doesn't hit for much power, strikes out a lot, and only has eight stolen bases.

Lake Elsinore Storm 2 – Inland Empire 66ers 6

Key Statistics RHP James Needy 4.2 IP, 4 H,5 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (L, 3-3, 3.09 ERA); SS Jace Peterson 2-3, 2B, 3B, RS, SB (22); C Austin Hedges 0-4, 3 K

Prospect Watch: The second half started off the same way the first half did… with a loss. Three errors help to lead to 4 unearned runs and that was all the difference in the game. James Needy cruised through the first four innings facing only two over the minimum. That changed after a one out strikeout and wild pitch changed the course of the game. Three errors and a single later and the game was over.

. South Bend Silver Hawks 2 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 1

Key Statistics RHP Adys Portillo 3.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K; RHP Walker Weickel 5.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K

Prospect Watch: Maybe Weickel should come out of the pen more often? 17 hitters, 9 strikeouts. Weickel had all his pitches working and easily set a career high in strikeouts. In his last two outings Weickel has gone 10.1 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 14 K… TinCaps managed only two hits one each by Adamson and Martinez.

AZL Mariners 2 – AZL Padres 3 (11 innings)

Key Stats: LHP Juan Oramas 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K; 3B Dustin Peterson 0-4, BB, RS, K; 1B Jake Bauers 0-4; DH Josh VanMeter 1-4, K; PH Fernando Perez 1-1 HR (1), RBI
