MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 16

Some games feel like they drag on for hours, while others actually do. The highlight of the game was probably Franmil Reyes striking out two. The TinCaps did eventually lose as right fielder Ronnie Richardson "pitched" the 18th inning allowing two runs.

Chihuahuas 1 - Albuquerque Isotopes 3

Key Statistics 1B Kyle Blanks 2-4, HR (4), RBI; LHP Jason Lane 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 2 K (L, 2-1) .

Prospect Watch: Pitchers duel in New Mexico as El Paso loses out to the Dodgers #2 ranked prospect Zach Lee… After hitting .416 in AAA last year, CF Reymond Fuentes is hitting only .206 with one stolen base in 10 games. He is currently mired in 1-20 slump. The only highlight is Fuentes has four walks and only five strikeouts in 38 plate appearances. The strikeout rate is a huge improvement compared to the 133 strikeouts in 136 games he had in 2012.

Storm 9 – Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5

Key Statistics RF Hunter Renfroe 3-5, RS, 2 RBI; 3B Gabriel Quintana 3-5, 3 RS, RBI; DH Duanel Jones 2-5, 2B, 4 RBI; RHP Ruben Mejia 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, ER, BB, 2 K (W, 1-1);

Prospect Watch: Of course after I brag about how great Martinez is doing he went 0-4 tonight. Renfroe had his second three hit game of the year and his third multi-RBI game in a row. Over the last three games Renfroe is 6-14, with a double, a pair of home runs, three runs scored, eights RBI and five strikeouts. Renfroe raised his overall OPS to over .900. While those are great numbers and are still on the rise, he will continue to have issues if he cannot make consistent contact. He has struck out at least once in 11 of his 13 games including 7 multi-strikeout games.

TinCaps 5 – Burlington Bees 7 (18 innings)

Key Statistics RF-P Ronnie Richardson 3-5, 3 RS, 3 SB, (1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, L (0-1)); 2B Fernando Perez 2-5, 2 2B, RBI; RHP Peyton Baskette 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, BB, 4 K; P Genison Reyes 1.1 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 K.

Prospect Watch: In a game that lasted 5:45 the Bees "pitchers" outdueled the TinCaps "pitchers" in 18 innings… RHP Tayron Guerrero has been picked as a breakout candidate for the last few years. It looks like he might finally take hold of that role. Guerrero faced seven batters this morning and struck out five of them. All in all Guerrero has allowed just three hits while striking out 13 in 9.2 innings..
