MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 23

Congratulations to Dan Robertson for finally making it to the majors! The ironic part is that in Stockton a player also named Dan Robertson, helped lead the Ports to a walk-off win over Lake Elsinore on Wednesday night.

Off day for El Paso

For further reading on the El Paso Chihuahuas, see the El Paso Times.

Missions 5 – Frisco RoughRiders 3

Key Statistics SS Jace Peterson 2-4, SB (4); RF Yeison Asencio 3-4, 2 RS, SB (1); 2BB.J. Guinn 1-3, HR (1), 3 RBI; RHP Devin Jones 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 6 K (W, 3-1).

Prospect Watch: So much for the new Adys Portillo. The right hander had a tough outing, facing five batters, fell behind all of them, walked two of them, and if it wasn't for great pitching by Jeff Ibarra he would have allowed more than just one run. In nine innings Portillo has surrendered 11 hits and walked nine. Despite the 2.00 ERA, he will not last long if his WHIP continues to be north of 2.

Storm 4 – Stockton Ports 5

Key Statistics RF Hunter Renfroe 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 K; 2B Casey McElroy 1-2, HR (2), RBI, 2 BB; RHP Bryan Rodriguez 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 3 BB 3 K.

Prospect Watch: To overkill this, Renfroe either gets an extra-base hit or strikes out. Refroe is currently striking out in 34% of his at bats this year, which makes his BABIP .422. Despite the strikeout woes, he is currently leading the farm in homeruns (6) and RBI (20)… After having a stellar 2013 season in Fort Wayne Nunn is not having nearly the same success in Lake Elsinore. The positive before tonight was that lefties had yet to get a hit on him (righties were batting close to .400). Unfortunately he allowed hits to two lefties before striking out a righty then leaving.

TinCaps 2 – Great Lakes Loons 9

Key Statistics 1B Luis Tejada 1-3, 2 RBI; RHP Jimmy Brasoban 2.1 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K (L, 0-2); RHP Payton Baskette 3.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 K

Prospect Watch: From a prospect watch there is not much positive to write about from today's game. Top 20 prospect Franchy Cordero did get a single (going 1-4), and has now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games. Unfortunately he also committed his 10th error of the year in only 15 games… Since winning player of the week Fernando Perez has gone 1-13, and has seen his average drop back below .300. He also committed an error (#3) as did Peterson (#9).
