Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas dropped their fifth in the last six games as they finish off the last of their month opening road trip tomorrow...So far this was Sampson's best outing in AAA...Both El Paso and San Antonio's offenses have been struggling to put up runs...1B Kyle Blanks was 0-4 but his slash line is still .267/.377/.667 and with the big club's offensive woes should be good enough to warrant a promotion.

Key Statistics CF Alberth Martiniez 3-5, 2 2B; RF Hunter Renfroe 1-4, 2B; 3B Gabriel Quintana 2-4, HR (4), RBI; 2B Diego Goris 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI; DH Chase Jensen 3-4, 2 2B; Stephen Carmon 1-1, BB; C Jeremy Rodriguez 1-2, 2 RBI; RHP Colin Rea (W, 3-0) 5.0 IP 7 H R ER BB 4 Ks; RHP Bryce Morrow 2.0 IP 2 H 3 Ks.
Prospect Watch: The Storm have been a very streaky this year putting together winning streaks of three and four games and as their near .500 recored attests, losing streaks of the same number. Hopefully with their second win in a row they are starting on a new one...Coming into the year we though Alberth Martiniez had the potential to be a "light five tool player" and so far he has been producing with a Cal League leading eight doubles to go along with a .316/.374/.495 line. Would like to see him run a little more than two stolen base attempts, but he's off to a very strong start...Colin Rea had his second strong outing and has now allowed only one earned run in 11 innings...A really nice High-A debut by Chase Jensen, a twenty-second round pick of the Padres in 2013 out of Oklahoma City College.

Key StatisticsCF Mallex Smith 2-3, BB, SB (16); RF Franmil Reyes 1-4, HR(3) 2 RBI; C Ryan Miller C 1-3, SB (1); RHP Walker Weickel 6.0 IP 6 H 3 R 2 ER 3 BB K; RHP Kyle Lloyd (BS, 1) (L, 0-1) 2.0 IP H 2 R ER 2 BB 2 Ks.
Prospect Watch: A wild pitch, balk and an error by third baseman Dustin Peterson helped send the TinCaps down after having won two in a row...Weickel had one of his better outings after struggling in his first two starts. His walks are still high with a 13/12 K/Bb ratio..Not a whole lot of guessing that when Mallex Smith gets on, he's running with 16 stolen bases in 22 attempts in 19 games...Franmil Reyes is swinging it with a slash line of .297/.350/.500 but having only five walks in 79 plate appearances is a bit of a concern.
