MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 18

Hunter Renfroe made his AA debut and proceeded to immediately score a run. Elsewhere fellow first round pick Trea Turner uses his speed to help lead the Ems to their first victory.

Chihuahuas 1 – Iowa Cubs 3

Key Statistics RHP Odrisamer Despaigne 5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K; RHP Keyvius Sampson 1.0 IP, K; SS Jake Lemmerman 2-4, 2B; 2B Brooks Conrad 1-3, 2B, RBI, BB.

Prospect Watch: It wasn't the dominating start we were hoping for, but Despaigne had a solid outing in a hitters' park. Starting with the positives; in Despaigne's first three starts he walked 11 in 14 innings. In his last two starts he has walked two in 9.2 innings. The bad news, right-handed hitters are still hitting over .450 off of him. He has only been in the US for a month so he will get a pass for awhile.

Missions 5 – Corpus Christi Hooks 2

Key Statistics RHP Juan Oramas 7 IP, 11 H, 2 ER, 3 K; 2B Casey McElroy 1-3, 2B RS, BB; CF Rymer Liriano 2-4, 2 RS, RBI; RF Hunter Renfroe 1-3, RS, 0 Ks.

Prospect Watch: Welcome to AA Hunter Renfroe. Renfroe singled in his first at-bat and raced around to score two hitters later. Best of all he didn't strike out… CF Rymer Liriano had his first multi-hit game in nine games. More importantly he threw a bullet to Hedges, who tagged the runner out to preserve a 2-2 tie… Four people tried to steal off Austin Hedges, three of them were cut down.

Another day of rest before the second half starts for the Storm and TinCaps

Ems 5 – Boise Hawks 2

Key Statistics RHP Arian De Horta 3.2 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 BB, 6 Ks; RHP Bryan Verbitsky 1 IP, 2 K; SS Trea Turner 1-3, RS, 2 BB, 3 SB (3); 1B Marcus Davis 1-3, HR (2), RBI, BBs

Prospect Watch: Turner showed why speed can be such a great thing to have. In his second game of the season, he started out the first by beating out a slow grounder. He later scored on a single. Later in the game he walked, stole both second and third, and then scored on a wild pitch. Its hard to draw conclusions off of two games, but at least the Ems finally won.
