San Antonio 7 - Springfield Missions 2
Prospect Watch:San Antonio's offense showed up and James Needy always shows up...Needy is a great example of why won-loss records or K/BB ratios are not always the best ways to evaluate a pitcher. What Needy, a sinkerball/slider pitcher, game is all about is eating innings and not giving up hard contact. Today he gave up a solitary single in six innings and didn't give up a run, earned or unearned. That is a prospect... With three hits today Reymond Fuentes pushed his batting average to .315. It might be time for a trip west to AAA El Paso for the Padres to find out what they do or don't have. A third trip through the Texas League isn't going to carry much weight.

Prospect WatchAn interesting night in Eugene. The Ems pair of runs in the fifth made the difference in the game on a solid pitching performance by Jimmy Brasoban, a pitcher that the Padres like quite a bit...Cory Spangenberg, who had one previous appearance in the outfield before tonight, got the start in centerfield...Trea Turner now has seven stolen bases in 11 games and has yet to be caught to go along with a .362 OBP...Ryan Butler, a seventh round pick in this year's draft made his first appearance in pro ball with two scoreless innings.
