Fresno Grizzlies 3 - Chihuahuas 1
Prospect Watch:Jason Lane made one mistake in the second inning on a lead-off home run and after that he did everything he could do to help his team win with five scoreless innings and he hit his second home run of the season. A big error by 3B Jonathan Galvez, on what would have been the final out of the second inning, let in a pair of runs in the second inning....In 45 plate appearances Lane is hitting .359...It’s still hard to see why Lane is not in a big league bullpen somewhere. As Chihuahuas manager Pat Murphy said, “You get two good players for one roster spot.”

Midland Rockhounds 5 -San Antonio 3
Key Statistics:2B Cory Spangenberg 1-3, BB; Rymer Liriano 2-4, HR (14), RBI; DH Cody Overbeck 2-3, BB; SS Brian Bixler 2-4; RHP Josh Geer 7.0 IP 3 H BB 6 Ks; RHP John Hussey 1.0 IP; RHP Luis De La Cruz (BS, 2)(L,4-8) 0.1 IP 4 H 5 R 5 ER BB HR.
Prospect Watch:The Missions were up 3-0 going into the bottom of the ninth and Josh Geer had pitched one his best games of the year. With one out in the ninth, De La Cruz allowed three straight singles, than a walk before Midland ended the game with a walk-off grand slam for a brutal loss...Geer’s won-loss record does not reflect how well he has pitched this season. He is leading the team in innings pitched at 116.2 and in 14 of his 20 starts he has allowed two earned runs or less...In the 16 games since he’s come back from the disabled list Cory Spangenberg is hitting .343/.380/.493...Closer Johnny Barbato and 16 saves has been out since June 10 and tonight showed that the Missions miss him.

Prospect Watch:A pair of four run innings were enough for the visiting Storm to win their second game in a row and stay on top of the overall standing in the Cal League with a 58-40 record...Mallex Smith actually did not steal a base tonight...By the end of the year Corey Adamson could have double digits in doubles, triples, home runs and steals...Storm Closer Trevor Gott who had 16 saves for Lake Elsinore and a 3.16 ERA in 31.1 innings before being promoted to San Antonio after the Cal League All-Star Game, was included in the Huston Street trade last night.

Vancouver Canadiens 11 - Emeralds 3
Prospect WatchThis season Dorminy has pitched well only giving up one earned run in eight outings for an 0.64 ERA, the problem is that he gave up four unearned runs tonight and only lasted an inning. The Ems made five errors tonight, three by their shortstop Nick Vilter, who was playing to provide some defensive stability with Franchy Cordero’s problems...After making four errors on Tuesday, Cordero made his second straight start as a DH...UCSB’s Joe Epperson is hitting .333/.417/.381 and has seen time at five different positions (LF, CF, 2B, 3B and DH).

AZL Padres 5 - AZL Dodgers 1
Key Statistics:CF Travis Jankowski 1-3, SB (1); RF Alex Dickerson 2-4, 2B, 3B; DH Yonder Alonso 2-5; 2B Daniel Bravo 1-3, BB; 3B Luis Urias 2-4; RHP Walker Weickel (W, 1-0) 5.0 IP 2 H BB 3 Ks; RHP Tyler Wilson 1.0 IP H R ER 3 Ks.
Prospect WatchOn a lovely 104 degrees day in Phoenix Travis Jankowski, Alex Dickerson and Yonder Alonso attempted to prove that they are all back from their injuries to get out of the heat. It was the first game back for both Jankowski, who saw his first action since snapping his wrist against an outfield wall on April 23, and Alonso. Tonight was the third game for Alex Dickerson, the main component of the Jaff Decker/Miles Mikolas trade in the off-season who has missed most of the season recovering from surgery on his heel to remove a cyst...A good second start by Walker Weickel, a supplemental first round pick in 2012 who struggled this season in Fort Wayne...Hopefully with a guy on the MLB roster and some top prospects there was a quality post-game buffet for the AZL Padres.
