Tri-City Dust Devils - Emeralds 3
Key Statistics:DH Jalen Goree 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, SB (5); SS Franchy Cordero 2-5, RBI; LF Yale Rosen 2-4, RBI; 3B Chase Jensen 1-2, RBI; C Miguel Del Castillo 2-4, 2B; 2B River Stevens 2-4; RHP Logan Jernigan (L,0-1) 2.1 IP 7 H 8 R 6 ER BB 5 Ks; RHP Samuel Holland 1.0 IP H 2 Ks.
Prospect WatchThe Dust Devils put up nine runs in the third inning as the Ems two game winning streak came to an end. Of the 14 runs the Emeralds’ pitching gave up 10 were earned the others came on three errors by Eugene including one by everyone’s favorite whipping boy SS Franchy Cordero, his twenty-first in 19 games at shortstop. To Cordero’s credit it hasn’t affected him at the plate where he is hitting .311/.354/.533 in July...Kudos to infielder River Stevens, a ninth round pick in the 2011 draft, who is in a tough spot hopscotching between Fort Wayne, Lake Elsinore and Eugene this year. In his first four games he has six hits and three walks in 15 plate appearances. It is not easy moving between leagues and hopefully Stevens, a very good defensive player, will get a place to stay for awhile.
