Reno Aces 13 - Chihuahuas 7
Key Statistics:3B Tyler Greene 2-5, 3B; CF Rymer Liriano 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB; RF Jake Goebbert 2-4, 2B, HR (12), 2 RBI; 1B Cody Decker 3-5, HR (17), 3 RBI; 2B Taylor Lindsey 2-4, RBI; LHP Jason Lane (L, 6-9) 6.0 IP 11 H 8 R 7 ER BB K HR; RHP Dennis O’Grady 0.2 IP 4 H 4 R 4 ER 2 BB.
Prospect Watch:The Chihuahuas put up some offense but a seventh inning that saw Reno score seven runs sent them down for the second straight game at home...How tough is the PCL to pitch in? Earlier in the week Jason Lane threw six innings in the big leagues and only gave up one earned run. Tonight he gave up seven as the ball flew out of Southwest University Park...Dennis O’Grady, who had a 0.63 ERA in July, saw his season ERA jump nearly a full point in one bad inning...Offensively Cody Decker is off to another hot start with a pair of home runs in August and a .462 batting average. He is now one behind the team leader Brooks Conrad in home runs with 17.

Frisco RoughRiders 3 -San Antonio 0
Key Statistics:3B Casey McElroy 0-2, 2 BB; LF Yeison Asencio 1-4, 2B; CF Hunter Renfroe 1-3, 2B; 2B Cory Spangenberg 1-4, SB (12); RHP Joe Wieland (L, 0-1) 4.0 IP 4 H R ER 2 Ks; RHP Adys Portillo 1.0 IP H BB K; LHP Frank Garces 1.0 IP H K.
Prospect Watch:As has been the story all year, the Missions got solid pitching but the offense didn’t show up. In the past 27 innings San Antonio has scored two runs...After a red-hot July Cory Spangenberg has hit .083 in the first three games of August...Frank Garces has struck out 68 batters in 56.1 innings this year for a 1.76 ERA. His 21 walks are still little high for a reliever but he’s made a solid conversion from a starter to a relief pitcher.
Lancaster Jethawks 2 - Storm 1
Key StatisticsLF Mallex Smith 2-5; 2B Benji Gonzalez 2-4; 1B Duanel Jones 1-3, BB; SS Joe Rondon 2-3, RBI, BB; RHP Bryan Rodriguez 6.0 IP 3 H R ER BB 5 Ks; RHP Matthew Shepherd 1.0 IP 2 Ks; LHP Chris Nunn (L, 3-2) 1.0 IP 2 H R ER K.
Prospect Watch:In a rare pitcher’s duel in Lancaster Chris Nunn gave up the winning run in the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie. It was the Storm’s fifth loss in six games. It was the first earned run that Nunn had given up in his last six appearances until tonight...It’s going to be hard to keep Mallex Smith off of the Top Prospect lists if he maintains his current pace. Right now he is hitting .321/.392/.482 with 26 stolen bases in 33 attempts.

Prospect WatchA double by Nick Shulz in the fourth inning to drive in two and a big double by Jake Bauers in the seventh to also plate two were enough to propel the TinCaps to their second straight victory...Starting pitcher Cody Hebner left early with some back tightness...Bauers, who hit .221 in July, after hitting .379 in May and .345 in June, is off to hot start in August going 5-12 with a walk in his first three games.
