Prospect Watch The problem with a sinker ball pitcher is that, that really is your only pitch. When the pitch is working, you can be absolutely filthy, but when you cant throw it for a strike... Since Jake Goebbert returned to AAA he has only made one appearance at 1B (over a week ago), all the rest have been in the outfield…Jason Lane had his first start of the year in the field at first base.

AZL Padres 1 – AZL A’s 2
Prospect Watch While John managed to scare an entire fan base with one line about Gettys being similar to Tate I will point out that Tate hit .222/.336/.344 in the AZL. He had 20 hits in 107 at bats. Gettys is hitting .329/.382/.435 with 53 hits in 161 at bats. Gettys is also a year younger than Tate was when he was in the AZL. Nothing Gettys does over the next three weeks will vault him to Top 5 Padre prospect status, but the better he does the further away he will get from those Tate comparisons.
