Chihuahuas 7 - Nashville Sounds 3
Key Statistics:CF Cameron Maybin 0-1, 2 BB; SS Tyler Greene 2-4, BB; 1B/LF Jonathan Galvez 2-5, 2 2Bs, 2 RBI; 3B/1B Cody Decker 2-3, HR (21), 2 RBI; PH/3B Alex Castellanos 2-2; RHP Joe Wieland 6.0 IP 4 H 2 R 2 ER 5 Ks; RHP Stephen Kohlscheen (W, 1-0) 1.0 IP 2 H R ER 2 Ks; RHP Hector Ambriz 1.0 IP H BB; LHP Bobby LaFromboise 1.0 IP H.
Prospect Watch:The Chihuahuas split their four game series with the Sounds on the back of a five run seventh inning...Cody Decker hit his twenty-first home run to give him the organizational lead and also played in his second straight game at third base...Somewhat lost in the shuffle Jonathan Galvez has been having a very nice year at .282/.347/.456 shuttling between first, third and left field...Since coming over in the Chris Denorfia trade Kohlscheen has seven strikeouts against only one walk in 5.1 innings...Cameron Maybin had his first game back since his P.E.D. suspension.

Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6 - San Antonio 4
Key Statistics:RF Alex Dickerson 1-3, BB; LF Hunter Renfroe 0-2, 2 BB; C Robert Kral 1-3, BB; 2B/CF Cory Spangenberg 1-5, SB (14); 3B/2B Casey McElroy 1-4, HR (8) 3 RBI RHP Leonel Campos 4.1 IP 7 H 5 R 5 ER BB 7 Ks HR; RHP Adys Portillo 2.0 IP K.
Prospect Watch:Usually if the Missions put four on the board they are walking away with a win, but not tonight. They did make a run of it in the eighth inning on Casey McElroy’s three-run home run, but it wasn’t enough...Hunter Renfroe is slumping in August after hitting .299/.360/.481 in July. Still he is much further along than many (including myself) would have predicted at the beginning of the year. An outfield featuring both Rymer Liriano and Renfroe is pretty exciting to Padres’ fans. For the first time in a long time, the Padres’ actually have some corner outfield prospects...Another solid outing by Adys Portillo who has a very big arm in middle relief.
Storm 10 - Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 8
Key StatisticsCF Mallex Smith 3-6, 2B; 2B Benji Gonzalez 4-5, HR (3), 4 RBI; LF Luis Domoromo 2-5, 3B; 1B Duanel Jones 3-5, 2B; RHP Matthew Shepherd 4.0 IP 6 H 7 R 7 ER 3 BB 3 Ks; RHP Brandon Alger (W, 4-3) 2.0 IP H 4 Ks.
Prospect Watch:A great road win for the Storm who put up five runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game and added two in the next inning to win it. Second baseman Benji Gonzalez hit a three-run home run with two outs to tie it up...While Mallex Smith’s stolen bases are impressive he also has 16 extra-base hits and has the arm to play right field. He might be the top centerfield prospect in the system...RHP Brandon Alger has also put himself on the map this year with a 2.83 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 57.1 innings against only 19 walks and 40 hits.

Prospect WatchThe TinCaps scored in the eighth inning on Fernando Perez’s RBI double to score CF Ronnie Richardson and break their two game losing streak...While Jake Bauers batting average is now straddling .300, which is still good enough for sixth in the Midwest League, his on-base percentage of .378 is good enough for fifth...Kyle Lloyd does not how to miss bats, he now has a 135 on the season which leads the organization and the league...Also keep an eye on Closer Ryan Butler, a seventh round pick out of North Carolina-Charlotte this year. He is seven for seven in save opportunities and has 21 strikeouts in 15.1 innings against only four walks.

Emeralds 5 - Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4 10 innings

With SS Franchy Cordero at the plate, the Volcanoes pitcher unleashed a wild pitch to give Eugene the victory...After making three errors earlier in the week, Cordero had a clean game at shortstop. Of Cordero’s 28 errors this year, 16 of them have come in five games where he has three or more errors (he had four in one game)...Bousfield, a fifth round selection out of Ole Miss, is hitting .409/.490/.659 in August.
