Prospect Watch:Cody Decker hit a home run in the top of the eighth inning to break the tie to give the Chihuahuas their third win in four games...Decker still has the overall organizational lead in home runs with 22...Jason Lane didn’t bat, but made his seventh straight start where he threw at least six innings. Post-All-Star game Lane has an ERA of 3.89 to go along with his .364/.442/.591 slash line...Rico Noel’s three stolen bases places him second overall in the organization...Closer Jerry Sullivan now has 36 strikeouts in 29.2 innings against only eight walks.

Prospect Watch:San Antonio scored more runs than they usually do in several games combined as the road warriors got their third straight win and fifth in six games...Alex Dickerson pushed his slash line to .317/.349/.490 in 25 games since coming off of the disabled list...Rob Kral, who was one of the breakout players last season, had one of his better days this year is now hitting .304/.407/.478 in seven games in August and finally got above the “Mendoza Line” overall this season at .202...Morrow didn’t have his best game of the year, but pitched well enough to get the win. Overall this season he has been one of the better pitchers in the organization with a 3.08 ERA in 76 innings.
Bakersfield Blaze 3 - Storm 2 -
Prospect Watch:After two relatively flat performances at home the Storm moved onto the road and had trouble generating much offense as they lost for the third straight game...After Fort Wayne’s Trea Turner, Jose Rondon may be the second best shortstop in the organization. A smooth fielder and at the plate he has an ability to put the bat on the ball, albeit not for a great amount of power.

Prospect Watch The TinCaps were down 8-1 going into the top of the seventh but made a game of it by putting up six runs in the next three innings and falling a run short to take the loss. Fort Wayne is struggling with their fifth loss in seven games...Trea Turner has “cooled off” a little, he is only hitting .395/.462/.579 in 36 games...Herrera had his shortest outing of the year...OF Nick Schulz continues to be a nice story this year. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of San Jose St., he has made the most of his opportunity to play and is hitting .315/.364/.510 for the year.

Prospect WatchEugene is another one of the Padres’ affiliates that appears to be staggering towards the finish line with the second worse overall record in the league...Walker Weickel, a supplemental first round pick in the 2012 draft, has had a nightmare season with a 6.32 ERA his second time around in the Midwest League and a 6.75 ERA in six games in Eugene.

Prospect WatchOF Rod Boykin, who had a good year last season in the AZL but who has been slowed down by injuries this season, had another good day after going 4-4 yesterday. The speedy Alabama native will not turn twenty until next season could become an interesting prospect if he can continue to add some size to his slight frame.
