Prospect Watch:Despite a rain delay that lasted over an hour and forty minutes the TinCaps came out ready to play. Turner led off the game with a triple and was brought home by Ronnie Richardson’s single before West Michigan recorded an out. Fort Wayne put four more runs on the board before West Michigan scored in the bottom of the fifth and then tacked on another one for insurance in the seventh...Despite only hitting .167 for the series, Trea Turner was huge for Fort Wayne, getting on base early and giving the TinCaps the lead...MadFriars’ Player of the Month of August Nick Schulz hit .400 for the series....The star of the game was Kyle Lloyd who more than anyone else in the organization has really put himself on the map as a prospect. It was Lloyd who ended the TinCaps’ 13 game losing streak on July 12 when he threw six innings and struck out 13 and he was nearly as good tonight. He ended the regular season with a 3.61 ERA in 119.2 innings and struck out an organization and Midwest League leading 155 batters against only 34 walks. He relies on a power splitter to get ahead in the count and is truly a big boy (six-foot-four, 230 lbs.) who is not afraid to throw his fastball. It is amazing that he wasn’t on the team coming out of spring and didn’t have a start until the first week of May...Closer Ryan Butler came in for the ninth and did what he does. Retire the side in order and launch a few 100 MPH fastballs...Fort Wayne moves onto to play the Lake County Captain in the Eastern Division Championship Series starting tomorrow at 6:05 PM EST at Parkview Field. It is the TinCaps’ fourth consecutive appearance in the Eastern Division Championship Series.
