The Storm flexed their power in the friendly confines of Adelanto, slugging three home runs, including two by outfielder Kyle Gaedele. San Antonio secured a walk-off victory and the Tincaps won in an early-morning blowout.

Tacoma Rainiers 5 – Chihuahuas 4

Key Statistics: 2B Ramiro Pena, 2-for-4, 2B, RBI. SS Mike McCoy, 1-for-4, HR (1), RBI. C Rocky Gale, 2-for-3. RHP Aaron Northcraft (L, 1-2) 4.2 IP 7 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 2 HR.

Prospect Watch: Northcraft, who was acquired in the Justin Upton deal, struggled again. He lost steam in the 5th inning, allowing four earned runs. Northcraft, 24, has an 11.12 ERA in three starts. In those three starts he has allowed 28 baserunners in 11.1 innings…If Austin Hedges is the Padres’ catcher of the future, Rocky Gale might be the backup catcher of the future. Gale, 27, had two hits to raise his average to .313. The former 24th round pick out of Portland hit .303/.328/.355 last season in El Paso.

Missions 4 – Springfield Cardinals 3

Key Statistics: SS Trea Turner, 2-for-4, 2B. 2B Rey Bruguera, 2-for-4. RHP Justin Hancock, 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. LHP Brandon Alger (W, 2-0) IP, 0 H, 0 ER, BB.

Prospect Watch: Missions catcher Jason Hagerty scored the winning run on a wild pitch… Trea Turner continues to pound Texas League pitching, as he added two more hits today. Turner has gone 14-31 (.451) during an eight-game hitting streak. For the season, Turner is hitting .341/.426/.488, with a homer and four RBI…Second baseman Rey Bruguera went 2-for-4 in his Double-A debut. The Dominican-born infielder hit .219/.270/.267 with Fort Wayne and Lake Elsinore last season…RHP Justin Hancock turned in a solid outing, allowing three runs and eight hits over his six innings of work. Hancock, 24, has a 3.94 ERA over three starts with San Antonio.

Prospect Watch: The Storm halted a seven-game losing streak with the win…Outfielder Kyle Gaedele is off to a scorching start in his second go-around in the California League. The burly outfielder from Valparaiso has three homers in 15 at-bats, including two tonight. Gaedele had a miserable 2014, but he is a name to watch in Lake Elsinore this season…First baseman Marcus Davis had two hits, both singles Monday night. Davis, 22, is 6-for-15 during a four-game hitting streak…RHP Zech Lemond had a rough outing in the hitter-friendly Heritage Field. The 2014 3rd round pick allowed five earned runs and nine hits through four innings of work. Lemond has a 6.19 ERA through three starts for the Storm.

Tincaps 12 – West Michigan Whitecaps 2

Prospect Watch: The Tincaps brought out their hitting shoes, pounding six extra base hits and three home runs in a game that started at 8 AM PST…DH Edwin Moreno homered and drove in a pair of runs out of the leadoff spot. The 21-year-old Dominican outfielder is hitting .280/.308/.480 in the early part of the year for the Tincaps…Second baseman Nick Vilter, 21, had a career-high three hits and drove in three in the victory. The UC Riverside product hit .205 last season between Eugene and the Arizona Padres… RHP Ernesto has made the jump from the Dominican Summer League look seamless. The 23-year-old righty has a 0.82 ERA in 11 innings. The righty hasn’t flashed electric stuff, as he has just five strikeouts in the aforementioned 11 innings.
