Prospect Watch: While third baseman Brett Wallace had a multi-hit game and an RBI, he made three errors on the evening. The 28-year-old journeyman is having a productive season with the bat, hitting .316/.382/.459, with three home runs and 16 RBI… Catcher Rocky Gale continues to hit, as he chipped in with a pair of hits, including a double. Gale doesn’t hit for much power, but he is 11-for-23 during his six-game hit streak. Gale is hitting .366 with six RBI this season. With Austin Hedges in the big leagues, Gale should be the everyday catcher in El Paso… Robbie Erlin allowed seven runs, although only two were earned, thanks to El Paso’s shoddy defense. Erlin allowed five hits, walking three and striking out just one batter. The 24-year-old southpaw has a 4.96 ERA in six starts for the Chihuahuas.

Missions 3 – Frisco RoughRiders 3 – game suspended due to rain
Prospect Watch: The Missions and RoughRiders will have to wait until tomorrow to stop, drop and open shop – the game was suspended due to rain. The two squads will pick it up in the top of the eighth inning. … RHP Colin Rea turned in his worst outing of the year, but he was still pretty good. The 2011 12th-rounder went six innings (his shortest outing of the year) and walked three (the most he’s allowed this year). He still only allowed five hits and two earned runs. The tall right-hander out of Indiana State has a 1.29 ERA, in a Texas-League leading 42 innings of work.

Storm 5 – San Jose Giants 3
Prospect Watch: The Storm are the hottest team in the Padres’system, as they have won five in a row and just completed the four-game sweep in San Jose. … Shortstop Jose Rondon had a nice night at the plate, with three hits and a stolen base. Rondon is off to another solid start in his second go-around in the Cal League, hitting .290/.351/.380 through 25 games.… Zech Lemond turned in another solid start, allowing just an earned run in 5.2 innings of work. Lemond, 21, has allowed just two earned runs in his last 16.2 innings of work.

Prospect Watch Franchy Cordero had a rough evening Wednesday night, as his two crucial errors led to a Fort Wayne loss. Tonight, he started at DH and hit his first home run of the year. The round-tripper was Cordero’s first homer in 181 at-bats as a member of the TinCaps. It will be interesting to see if Cordero is used as a DH in the coming days, perhaps to give him a mental break from the rigors of playing shortstop. … Center fielder Michael Gettys hit his second home run of the year, although he did strikeout three times. The 19-year-old is hitting .260/.288/.420, with two home runs and seven RBI. Gettys has also struck out 35 times, with just four walks in 100 at-bats. … LHP Taylor Cox was the latest TinCaps pitcher to get shelled, as he allowed eight earned runs, including two home runs. The 2014 16th-round pick has had a rough debut in the Midwest League, as he has a 7.23 ERA in five starts. He has walked 17 batters in 23.2 innings, with only eight strikeouts.
