MadFriars Daily Farm Report: May 19

El Paso's bats fall silent after a big game the night before and Butler struggles in his AA debut. Lemond got hit again for Lake Elsinore and the move of Franchy Cordero off of shortstop looks permanent in Fort Wayne. Through it all, Travis Jankowski keeps on hitting.

Fresno Grizzlies 12 - Chihuahuas 2

Key Statistics: LHP Robbie Erlin (L, 4-3) 5.1 IP, 13 H, 8 ER, BB, 2 K ; DH Melvin Upton Jr 1-4, 2B, RS; 3B Brett Wallace 2-4, 2B, RBI.

Prospect Watch Anyone looking for pitching help on the farm shouldn’t look to AAA. Robbie Erlin had another rough start as he surrendered four home runs in the game. On the season batters are hitting .320 off of him while he has a 1.64 WHIP... Nick Vincent hasn’t been much better as he allowed three runs in one inning in the blowout...If there is a call-up with Wil Myers going on the DL for position players OF/1B Alex Dickerson seems like the likely candidate. He is hitting .321/392/.518 and is a left-handed hitter.

Corpus Christi Hooks 6 - San Antonio Missions 2

Key Statistics: RHP Ryan Butler (0-1) 6 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K; CF Travis Jankowski 2-4, SB (15); DH Hunter Renfroe 2-2, BB.

Prospect Watch Ryan Butler made his first start since his promotion and was roughed up. He retired six of the first seven batters before working himself into a bases loaded jam in the third. Butler nearly escaped it before allowing a two out bases clearing double. He would allow another run in the fourth before settling down, retiring the final seven in order. The damage would have been a lot worse but the team rallied to turn three double plays behind him. Definitely was not the best start, but considering a year ago he was still pitching in college, he gets a mulligan...Jankowski is third in the Texas League in batting average at .348, fourth in on-base percentage at .432, third in triples with three and third in stolen bases with 15 - and only three times has he been caught.

Visalia Rawhide 9 - Storm 3

Key Statistics: RHP Zech Lemond (L, 2-2) 6 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 7 K ; SS River Stevens 2-5, RS, RBI; DH Auston Bousfield 3-5.

Prospect Watch After struggling in his first three outings, Lemond only gave up two earned runs in his next three. In his last two starts he has now given up nine earned runs...Auston Bousfield continued his fast start to the season. With another three hit night his extended hit streak reached nine games. During the streak he is hitting .405 with six walks and seven stolen bases… With Butler gone, Lemond will take over the club lead in strikeouts. Tonight he tied his career high with seven strike outs, which he has already reached three times this year, and now has 39 in 44 innings.

Lake County Captains 8 - Fort Wayne Tin Caps 5

Key Statistics: RHP Dinelson Lamet 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, BB, 3 K; SS Rudy Giron 1-3, RS, BB; CF Michael Gettys 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RS, RBI; LF Franchy Cordero 1-4, 2B, SB (10).

Prospect Watch With two hits today Michael Gettys snapped a 1-27 skid. During the streak he has seen his batting average drop 45 points from .266 to .221. His two doubles equal the number of extra-base hits he had had in his previous 14 games in May… For the third start in a row Lamet was unhittable, retiring eight of the first nine batters before the wheels fell off. A blown would be inning ending double play, led to a grand slam...Cordero now has not been at shortstop since May 6.
