Prospect Watch: Another rough day for the Storm, as they have allowed 33 hits and 17 runs the past two days … 3B Gabriel Quintana hit his 3rd homer of the year on Monday. Quintana, 22, is repeating at Lake Elsinore after a solid 2014. 2015 has not been particularly kind to the big 3rd baseman, as he is hitting just .205/.224/.342, with three home runs and 17 RBI. Quintana has played better as of late, but his performance has been a major disappointment … Jordan Hershiser (son of Orel) made his organizational debut Monday and got knocked around, allowing four runs in 1.1 innings. Hershiser, 26, was drafted by the Dodgers in the 34th round back in 2012. He pitched in one game for Rancho Cucamonga of the Cal League before being released … ROSTER MOVE: The Storm activated catcher Ryan Miller from the seven-day disabled list. Catcher Jeremy Rodriguez retired, accepting a position to coach the Padres’ Dominican Summer League team. Rodriguez, 25, played five seasons in the Padres’ organization, and hit .235/.364/.276 in 175 games.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps scored three runs in the first inning, but their pitching staff allowed nine walks on the afternoon … Shortstop Ruddy Giron continues to be the talk of the Padres’ system, as he had three more hits Monday. While the 18-year-old has only had 38 at-bats, he is hitting a video game-like .526/.561/.816, with two home runs and 5 RBI. He has hit safely in all eight games he’s played in, with six multi-hit games … RHP T.J. Weir struggled Monday, allowing four earned runs and four walks in 4.1 innings. The 23-year-old has struggled with location, as evidenced by 15 walks in 30.1 innings, but has struck out 34 on the season. Weir has transitioned into the rotation after starting the year in the pen.
