MadFriars Daily Farm Report: June 2

Melvin Upton Jr. and Brandon Morronw show Padre fans they are ready to return to San Diego and Jason Lane makes history with El Paso.

Chihuahuas 7- Omaha Storm Chasers 4

Key Statistics: RHP Jason Lane 8.2 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, BB, 2 K (W, 4-4); DH Melvin Upton 2-4, 2 RBI, SB (3); 1B Tommy Medica 2-4, HR (2), 3 RBI; LF Alex Dickerson 1-3, HR (5), 2 RS, RBI.

Prospect Watch It was not a good month of May for Tommy Medica. After hitting .329 in April, he hit just .191 with a .516 OPS. While fans often criticize Matt Kemp for his lack of power, Medica’s home run was his first since the second game of the season. Additionally, that is with playing in the hitter-friendly PCL… Jason Lane’s start was the longest in Chihuahua’s history.

Missions 4 – Arkansas Travelers 0

Key Statistics: RHP Brandon Morrow 4 IP, 2 H, BB; DH Alberth Martinez 3-4, 2B; RF Hunter Renfroe 1-3, BB.

Prospect Watch Brandon Morrow made his first start in nearly a month, tossing four innings, 54 pitches (31 strikes). With tossing so few pitches, he will likely get another rehab start before rejoining the club… As sad as it is, this is the first game since May 22 that Renfroe has reached base safely multiple times in a game after going 4-34 with 13 K.

Storm 7 – Stockton Ports 13

Key Statistics: LHP Kyle Lloyd 5.1 IP, 7 H, 9 R (5 ER), BB, 7 K; SS Jose Rondon 2-5, 2 2B, RS; C Ryan Miller 3-4,2B, 3B, 2RBI; LF Yale Rosen 1-3, HR (4), 3 RBI.

Prospect Watch On a night when the ball was flying out to left field, Lloyd was roughed up. The Storm faced rehabbing A.J. Griffin, of the A's and Grossmont High - Go Hillers!. Griffin allowed just one base runner over three innings before departing to a pen who gave up seven runs in the final six innings… Ryan Miller was a bright spot for the Tin Caps last year before an injury derailed him. After starting off the season injured again he has since come back and give the Storm a jolt on offense hitting .371 with a 1.000 OPS over his eight game tenure with the Storm.
