Prospect Watch Rymer Liriano was thought of as the heir apparent to Justin Upton ,and still could be. At just 23, he is still considered young for the PCL and unlike the last few years, Liriano did not get off to a slow start. He has posted an OPS over .800 in each of the first two months and is hitting over .350 in the last two weeks with an OPS near 1.000. While we have seen Liriano’s power, his six home runs this season, and 17 extra-base hits, already put him well above last year’s career high, 14 home runs and 48 extra-base hits…CF Melvin Upton, Jr. now has an OPS of 650 in 45 plate appearances…Needy's home ERA is 10.09 in seven starts, on the road it is 3.15 in four starts.

Missions 10 – Arkansas Travelers 6
Prospect Watch Even with today’s home run Hunter Renfroe has now hit eight home runs in 107 AA games. By comparison, last year at the all-star break Renfroe was second to Kris Bryant in extra-base hits (40 in 69 games with Lake Elsinore). We are seeing what Bryant can do, why not Renfroe? … With Turner effectively gone in a week, Jankowski might be the lone hitting Mission. Jankowski not only has an average of .333, but also has an OBP of .415, leads the organization with 15 stolen bases and is averaging a strikeout every ten at-bats…Morris has now given up three or more earned runs in five of his last six starts.

TinCaps 7 – Beloit Snappers 8
Key Statistics: LHP Jose Castillo 3.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K; RHP Chris Huffman 3.2 IP, H, BB, 5 K; DH Franchy Cordero 2-4, 2B, RS, RBI, BB, SB (12); CF Michael Gettys 1-4, HR (3), 2 RS, RBI, SB (7).
Prospect Watch After an impressive first start, Jose Castillo learned how tough pitching can be. He almost pitched out of a jam in the first inning before balking in a run. Then after breezing through the second inning he gets wild and then made a bad pitch and it went for a three-run home run...Last year Gettys hit .310 in the AZL but managed only three home runs in 52 games. This year he hit his third home run in game 44. While he has more doubles and extra-base hits, he also has far fewer hits, walks and RBI while striking out more with fewer stolen bases. It was always expected that the young Gettys would have difficulty adjusting to the cold Fort Wayne weather, but hopefully this is a sign of good things to come…Cordero had his second multi-hit game of the week and SS Ruddy Giron's batting average "plummeted" down to .397, his lowest since he joined the TinCaps 18 games ago.
