The last position players to report to camp Wednesday were outfielders Ryan Klesko and Freddy Guzman and infielders Josh Barfield, Mark Loretta and Rey Ordoñez.
Klesko is nearing 100 percent after having his 2003 campaign shortened due to shoulder surgery. Klesko has taken batting practice against live pitching for over a month and has been working out for nearly two months. The 2002 Padres MVP managed to lead the club in homers for the second consecutive year despite playing in just 121 games.
Third baseman Sean Burroughs will change his number from 33 to 32 this season. Davey Lopes, a first base coach for the Friars, will also change his number to 25 this year after wearing 24 and 27 a year ago.
The general public will get their first opportunity to tour the inside of PETCO Park during a two-day public open house, March 6 and 7.
The public is asked to bring a canned good - for people or animals - benefiting the San Diego Food Bank and local animal charities. During the self-guided tours, the public will have special access to unique areas of the ballpark including the Western Metal Supply Company building, Omni Hotel Premiere Club, suites and the Padres home clubhouse. On both days of the Open House, the public will also have the opportunity to purchase single game and season tickets for the 2004 season, and receive information about parking and transportation and group sales.
Peoria Notes: Everyone in camp
