Eaton Loves Beating LA

A six run fourth inning by the San Diego Padres that saw five straight singles paced the Padres win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Adam Eaton, meanwhile, cruised to his fifth victory over the Dodgers in his career and continues to dominate them in an 8-3 victory.

A walk and two straight singles to open the fourth loaded the bases for Ryan Klesko. Klesko took the first pitch, way off the plate outside and smacked a single up the middle to tie the game, keeping the bases loaded. Jay Payton followed with a shot directly at Weaver and it popped off to the first base side. Weaver recovered and tried to get Payton at first, but the sliding Payton beat the throw.

Ramon Hernandez then hit a solid single on an offspeed pitch into the right-centerfield gap to score two, pushing the score to 4-1. After a Khalil Greene strike out, Adam Eaton grounded out with the runners in motion, scoring Payton and putting the team up 5-1. Sean Burroughs then completed the lineup by doubling down the left field line to score Hernandez and chasing Weaver.

The six run inning was the biggest inning of the year for the Padres.

Adam Eaton was part of a double-steal in the seventh with Burroughs manning the other half. Mark Loretta then doubled them both in to put the Friars up 8-1.

Eaton went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

The Padres team ERA is now 3.32 ERA (24 ER/65.0 IP). Friars hurlers have allowed only four home runs on the season, Shawn Green has two of those.

Padres starters have combined for a 1.98 ERA (10 ER/45.1 IP) and have allowed more than two runs only once (4 - April 10 vs. SF) while holding the opposition scoreless in their outing on two occasions (April 8 vs. SF and April 11 vs. SF).

Eaton is now 5-1 mark with a 2.23 ERA (21 ER/84.2 IP) against Los Angeles over his career.
