Luke Steidlmayer suffers setback

Luke Steidlmayer, on the road back from offseason surgery on his right shoudler to fix a torn labrum, was placed on the disabled list with arm tenderness, a move announced by the Fort Wayne Wizards retroactive to July 19.

Luke Steidlmayer had made two starts since joining the Wizards after beginning his rehab from arm surgery with the Padres Arizona Summer League Team in Peoria, AZ. Steidlmayer was 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA in the two starts. He struck out 13 and walked just 1 in 9.2 innings of work.

Taking Steidlmayer's start this evening in Dayton is RHP Greg Conden. Conden is 2-7 with a 5.34 ERA in 12 appearances and 11 starts with the Wizards this season.

With this move, the Wizards now have 24 active players on their roster.

Steidlmayer didn't have a decision in three starts in Peoria, Ariz., but he struck out 11 in 10 innings and had a 3.60 ERA.
