Bobby Scales up to Portland

The San Diego Padres have shuffled Bobby Scales up to the Portland Beavers from the Mobile BayBears. Scales will take the roster spot vacated by Freddy Guzman.

Bobby Scales played in 20 games for Mobile, batting .265 with no homers and five RBI's. He drew 13 walks while striking out 15 times with the BayBears.

Scales spent the bulk of his time playing left field but did log some games in right and even played second base.

The switch-hitter batted .242 in 63 games with Portland earlier this year. He had one homer, 11 doubles and 19 RBI's. He batted .268 with runners in scoring position.

He was used primarily at second base, third base and in left field when he wasn't being used as a designated hitter for the Beavers.

Mobile's roster is at 22 players, two below the Southern League limit.
