The San Diego Padres recalled outfielder Xavier Nady and right-hander Justin Germano from Triple-A Portland on Monday and sent speedy outfielder Freddy Guzman and right-hander Dennis Tankersley down to Portland.

Xavier Nady, called up for the third time this year, started in center field against the St. Louis Cardinals and went 0-for-3. He was hitting .330 with 22 homers and 70 RBIs for Portland. Nady had been on a tear with Portland, hitting homers in five of his last six games.
