Breslow, McAnulty, Oxspring called to San Diego

The San Diego Padres recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Oxspring, left-handed pitcher Craig Breslow, and first baseman/outfielder Paul McAnulty from Triple-A Portland on Thursday.

Chris Oxspring, 28, is 12-6 with a 4.03 ERA (72 ER/160.2 IP) with 125 strikeouts in 26 starts with the Beavers. He leads the Pacific Coast League in wins and also ranks among league leaders in complete games (three; tied for first), innings pitched (third), strikeouts (fourth) and ERA (seventh).

Craig Breslow, 25, is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER/10.0 IP) with nine strikeouts in eight relief appearances with the Beavers. Breslow had his contract purchased by the Padres from Double-A Mobile on July 29 and made six relief appearances, going 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA (2 ER/8.2 IP) and 10 strikeouts, before being optioned to Portland on August 12. He opened the season with the BayBears, going 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA (17 ER/53.1 IP) in 40 games, all in relief.

Paul McAnulty, 24, is batting .344 with six home runs, 15 doubles and 27 RBI in 38 games with Portland. McAnulty was recalled from Mobile on June 22 and batted .222 (2-for-9) in 10 games with the Padres before being optioned back to Mobile on July 3. In 79 games with the BayBears, McAnulty batted .279 (83-for-298) with 10 home runs, 16 doubles and 42 RBI. He was subsequently promoted to Portland on July 22.
