Changes to scouting department continue

The San Diego Padres named Mike Wickham Assistant to the Vice President of Scouting and Development, Juan Lara Assistant to Player Development and International Operations and Jaron Madison Assistant to the Director of Scouting.

Wickham, 30, held the position of Assistant Director, Scouting for the Padres since 2002. He was involved in many aspects of the First-Year Player Draft and professional and international scouting. A graduate of North Park University in Chicago, IL, Wickham began his career in professional baseball as the Director of Finance for the Milwaukee Brewers' Single-A Stockton Ports affiliate before joining the Montreal Expos Baseball Operations staff in 1999.

Lara, 34, joined the Padres in 2002 and has served in the role of the Assistant to the Director of Player Development. During his time with the Padres, Lara, who attended the MLB Scout Development Program in 2002, assisted in all Minor League free agent signings and with preparation for the Rule 5 Draft. A graduate of Georgetown University, Lara began his professional career in 1998 in the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.

Madison, 30, rejoins the Padres after serving the last three years as Area Scout with the Pittsburgh Pirates responsible for Northern California and Nevada. A former outfielder at Long Beach State University, he began his career in Major League Baseball as an Associate Area Scout with the Padres in 2002. Madison, who in 2002 earned his Master Degree from the University of San Francisco in Sports Management, was selected as the 1998 Big West Conference Co-Student Athlete of the Year.
