Padres add Cluck to minor league staff

The San Diego Padres today named Bob Cluck as Minor League Pitching Consultant.

Cluck, 60, served the last three seasons (2003-05) as pitching coach for the Detroit Tigers. A veteran of 39 years in professional baseball, Cluck has also been the Major League pitching coach for the Houston Astros (1990-93) and Oakland A's (1994-98) and has worked for the Texas Rangers and Montreal Expos organizations.

Cluck, a San Diego native, will be making his return to the Padres after having been a member of the organization from 1982-87. He served as the director of minor league development from 1982-83, as manager of Triple-A Las Vegas from 1984-85 and as a roving minor league pitching instructor in 1986-87.
