With the glut of first basemen at the upper levels of the system it was inevitable that one would be moved.
The following players were released by the club:
Fogleson, signed out of the Independent League last year, went 1-0 with a 3.08 ERA in five games, three starts, for Peoria of the Arizona Rookie League.
Girardeau, a seventh round pick in 2003, went 3-9 with a 7.13 ERA in 88.1 innings for High-A Lake Elsinore after going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in six starts with Low-A Fort Wayne. He was 15-18 over his career with a 5.24 ERA.
O'Hagan pitched in just eight games with Eugene in 2004 after being selected in the ninth round that year, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA. He had surgery in March of 2005 and missed the entire year.
Parker was signed as an non-drafted free agent in 2005, hitting .219 over 44 games with the Arizona Rookie League squad.
Pence, signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2003, went 4-5 with Lake Elsinore, sporting a 4.56 ERA over 49.1 innings of relief. His year ended early when he had to undergo an emergency appendectomy.
Pickens hit .245 with ten homers and 46 RBI's in 77 games for the Lake Elsinore Storm. He has battled the injury bug since being selected in the 12th round of the 2003 draft, specifically to his shoulder.
Vazquez split time between Fort Wayne and Eugene, hitting .320 in 14 games for the Wizards and .254 in 23 games for the Emeralds. He was a 26th round pick in 2004.
