Jonathan Ellis It wasn't. I'm having problems with that actually back home. The media back home is saying that it was performance-enhancing. On the news last night, my dad was watching and there was like a five minute report about steroids and how it's bad for you, and then my name was brought up.
Do you know what was detected?
It was for a drug of abuse, but it wasn't for performance-enhancing drugs.
Does MLB or the team require any rehab as a result?
I have to go to classes when I get back [to Arizona]. I'll find out when I get there.
When did they test and when did you find out?
I think the test was May 15th or something, and then I just found out Friday.
When they tested, did you know you could be in trouble?
No, I didn't. I thought I would be fine. When it happened, I was like, ‘are you kidding me.' I didn't try to argue it, because I knew that I had put myself in this situation, but I thought under the time circumstances, I thought it was okay. … It's just something I have to learn from. I've just got to serve my time and then come back.
Did you get a chance to talk to your teammates at Mobile about it?
I talked to everybody and everybody's response to me - they were positive and they were just telling me to serve my time and come back, and move on from there. There's nothing I can do and what's done is done. All I can do is serve my 50 games and come back and just keep playing.
Did you talk with Matt Varner, who just rejoined Lake Elsinore after serving a suspension of his own?
Yeah, actually I have. He was basically saying the same thing. It's not the end of the world, it's just a bump in the road.
What are you doing now?
I'll be at home for the first 30-35 days, then I'll go down to Arizona to get ready there for the last 15 days.
How will you handle workouts at home?
I've got a gym that I work out at back home. My brother, he's at home right now, so I'll probably just throw with him and maybe throw a bullpen here and there.
Will you be able to work out with the team when you get back to Arizona?
I'm not sure how that works. I don't think I can be on the field because you can't be with a team where they have paid attendance, so I think I'll have to do all my work in the morning before the team actually gets there.
How are you holding up?
I've been better
