Padres Prospect Power Rankings IX

After a few weeks, much of the top ten in this week's full season Power Rankings from stays consistent. Seven players hold tight to their hot streaks and provide bulletin board fodder for their teammates to knock them off the list and see their names in lights.

1) Peter Ciofrone – OF – Lake Elsinore

Over his last 28 games he is hitting .385 with 18 walks and 28 RBI's. He is hitting .400 with runners in scoring position. ‘Nuff said.Last Week: 2

2) Nick Hundley – C – Lake Elsinore

Seven RBI's in four games with Lake Elsinore follow up a .326 average over his last 26 games in Fort Wayne with 15 extra base hits and 25 RBI's. Last Week: 1

3) Paul McAnulty – 3B/OF/1B - Portland

Has knocked in a run in five of his last six games and is sporting a .346 average over his last 41 games. He is hitting .413 when he plays third base. Last Week: 3

4) Mark Roberts – RP – Lake Elsinore

Since giving up two runs in his first outing in the California League he has 11.1 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. Just five hits allowed in 40 at bats overall with the Storm. Last Week: 4

5) Mike Ekstrom – SP - Mobile

While he is 0-3 in Mobile, he has given up two runs or less in four of his five starts and has a .211 average against. He has given up four hits in 30 at bats to the leadoff hitter in an inning. Last Week: 5

6) Chase Headley - 3B – Lake Elsinore

Is hitting .389 over his last 14 games with 15 runs scored and 11 RBI's. With 49 walks he has a .383 on base percentage. Last Week: Dropped

7) Javis Diaz – OF – Fort Wayne

He has a seven game hitting streak with four multi-hit games. He is batting .429 when he leads off an inning and has swiped eight bases in nine attempts for the Wizards. Last Week: NR

8) Manny Ayala – SP – Lake Elsinore

Has limited the opposition to a .195 average and has given up four runs in three starts since coming into the rotation. Has whiffed 17 in his last 15 frames. Last Week: 7

9) Will Venable – OF – Fort Wayne

Eighty-one games into the season he still leads the Midwest League in hitting at .323. Has knocked in a run in six of his last nine games. He is hitting .386 at home. Last Week: 9

10) Luis Cruz – 2B - Mobile

Has a .315 average with runners in scoring position and is hitting .324 off left-handed pitchers. Has slowed since hitting .315 over a 55 game span in May and June but has seven RBI's in his last 11 games. Last Week: 6

On the bubble (alphabetical):

Tim Brown (LE) owns a .402 on base percentage to go with a team leading 27 doubles.

Steve Delabar (FW) has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his last six starts.

David Freese (FW) goes from number one on the short-season list to the bubble here with hits in every game he has appeared in with Fort Wayne.

Brandon Higelin (FW) has a 1.07 WHIP and leads the Midwest League in appearances.

Josh Howard (LE) has a .412 on base percentage and ten steals in 11 attempts.

Cla Meredith (San Diego) has been promoted to San Diego since the last Power Rankings.

Terrmel Sledge (Portland) has been hammering the ball of late with homers in six of his last nine games.

Sean Thompson (Mobile) is sporting a 1.15 WHIP over 105 innings and has given up two runs or less in five straight.
