Padres ship four to minor league camp

The San Diego Padres today optioned right-handed pitchers Leo Rosales and Jared Wells to Triple-A Portland. The club also reassigned left-handed pitchers Frank Brooks and Adrian Burnside to minor league camp.

Rosales went 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA in four spring games. Over 4.1 innings he allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out one.

Wells went 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA over two games, including one start. In 4.0 innings he yielded two runs, on five hits and a walk while whiffing two.

Brooks went 0-0 with a 11.25 ERA over four games, spanning four innings. He yielded five runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three. Burnside went 0-1 with a 11.57 ERA over three appearances. In 2.1 innings he allowed three runs on six hits an three walks.

The Padres now have 49 players in Big League camp, including 37 players from the 40-man roster and 12 non-roster invitees.
