Luke Carlin on his expectations for 2007

Portland, OR-- Portland Beavers catcher Luke Carlin understands his first responsibility is defense, but that does not mean he will be ignoring the offensive side of his game this year.

Luke Carlin got to spend a lot time in big league camp this spring, but he is back in Portland where he contineus to do what he does best - play solid defense.

The backstop has thrown out 41.7 percent of the baserunners attempting to steal on him early in the year - but he credits the players covering the bag.

His expectations offensively have also increased - perhaps eyeing the recent promotion of Pete Laforest and believing the bat will play a pivotal role in his call-up to San Diego.
